Clint Eastwood and my existential crisis

I saw the movie EverAfter yesterday, directed by Clint Eastwood. I will admit about an hour in, I was quite confused and wondering when Mr. Eastwood was going to wrap this this thing up in the nice little bow that should be coming in. Don't get me wrong the movie was fascinating to watch. It had destruction, depression, drugs, ya know the 3 D's every great movie should have. The majority of the movie was spent detailing the lives of the three main characters. The film had me guessing what was in store for us. How were these characters going to meet and make this movie come together. The three story lines had my full attention. The acting was incredible, you really felt like you were there with those people, going through their lives and crisis'. It really was hard to watch such suffering, and sadness. It was quite heavy at some points, I felt a bit uncomfortable sharing these feelings with the characters. Luckily the movie indeed did wrap itself up in the nice little bow. The overall plot is simple; Everything happens for a reason. This concept is by no means new to me or to any of you, but it does make you think. It kind of lends to an openness about life and all of its obstacles. Even the craziest most fucked up things can happen to you, but somewhere down the line it made your whole life better. It makes me feel like there is no need to worry about anything at all. The universe has us all set up and ready to go. Ride the wave of life, its going to take you where your meant to go, so you might as well enjoy the ride.

This movie also made me think of the opposite concept; death. I think about death probably just as much as the next person; not that often. I mean don't misunderstand me, I know I am going to die one day. That is the one fact in life I have accepted fully. Today I actually thought about dying, the actual process of it all. Laying there at some moment in time, and just letting it all go and dying. That would be it. What would that feel like? What would I be thinking when it happens? Would I be scared, or would I be in tune enough to accept my fate? How about the people I will be leaving behind. That freaks me out to be honest. Everyday life goes on and everyday people die. Its wild. Yes, yes this isn't a new thought, its just real. We are all going to die and what are we doing with our time? Are we even remembering what we did today? Who we talked to? What we felt? How do weeks and months just fly by us? We get so caught up in life, but are we living? Are you living? Sometimes I will admit I don't feel like I am living. I am just going through the day, waiting for the next one to come. This is no way to live, and I have decided to no longer do that. It is high time to get it together and live life to the fullest. I want to lay there when I die and know I did all I could and all I wanted to do. Sorry about the rant, these are just my thoughts and I am sharing them with you. Do you want to share with me? I love discussing this kinda stuff...obviously.

Give Me Some Truth..

Somebody told me to be careful about posting such honest blogs. My reaction was to write this blog. Blogs are supposed to be reviews right? They are meant to focus on humans in general. We all get to choose what we write about. Thats why there are hundreds of thousands of blogs out there. They are all different. With different opinions, different writing styles, different voices being projected. Its an expression, its art. This is my art. I am just being who I am.

I have found out that if you aren't yourself, if you don't react from the heart, you will fail in the long run. The way to succeed is to be who YOU are. Everyone is so different from each other, but in reality all the same. We need to use our personalities and quirks about ourselves to stand out in this world. It's really all we got. Not everyone is going to like it, or accept it. The point is to do what you do, and the people who want it will like it and gain something from it, and the people who don't hopefully will teach you in some way.

Lately, some people have been telling me that I need to be less honest. "Less honest" for real? Don't the majority of people want to know the truth? Nope. They want to live in their bubble they have created for themselves and be blissfully ignorant. I understand this mentality, I lived it for many years. Its hard to look into the mirror of truth and accept what is really going on. When you do though is when your life is transformed. Which leads to change. Change is another one of those things most people are not into. Change is the only constant, and change can only happen when truth is present. I will take truth over a lie any day of the week. Lies aren't helping us as people grow or learn. We will stay in inertia if we don't accept the truth.

As the late great John Lennon said "All I want is some truth"...

I need fun in my life..

I just came from a place where music was plentiful. New bands galore, a venue every block, inspiration and creativity flowing abound. Now I am in a place where music is limp. There is nothing here. Yes, I do live in a very rural area but there still is a bit of a music scene. The main problem is its not diverse enough. There are so many different kinds of music, and people that live here I just am still shocked that all we get is Reggae and Electronic. Every now and again an indie group will come through, but the publicity of it is horrible, and usually I don't hear about the shows until they are well over. You could argue that I should be more adamant on keeping up with the happenings around town. You would be right, but the point is, it shouldn't be that hard. This is a college town, college kids, with college tastes. These college kids look a lot like hipsters, and hipsters love shows. Going to see music is such a great release and a place to let you see the people who make the music you love. If you get lucky you see a band you never heard of and fell in love with based on their show. Then for years to come, their albums remind you of this incredible experience you had when you saw them play. I am lucky enough that over my life, I've seen some very epic shows, well they were epic to me at least, and thats all that matters. Our personal experiences are all we got in life, and why not make them as magical as possible?

Does this blog seem like me just bitching about where I live? Good because it is. I am feeling trapped a bit up here behind the redwood curtain. I need more in life, I need excitement, I need live music that gives me an experience, that makes me fall in love with all over again. This is important to me, this is the type of life I want to lead. I am trying to make that happen in some way. I can't just jump up and move. Thats just impossible to accomplish anytime soon. So what are my options? I can start throwing shows, or start a dj night I suppose. How does one do that? I don't really know. Maybe I will try to figure it out.

Back in Action..

I have decided that it is time to get my ass back on this thing. I need to be reviewing, thinking, living and loving all things entertainment, or at least entertaining to me. Its time to just be on my grind and be me. So I will be sharing all things I find lovely on here. I am Ms. Connection, I live in Northern California, and am attempting to start my own career path in life. They say most people succeed when they just tap into their own talents and go with it. So my talent is talking, and sharing with people things I am passionate about and love. I could be a saleswoman if i cared enough about the product, but honestly there isnt anything I care that much about as of yet. Maybe through writing and observing more I will find it. I have faith in all of this, and hopefully you will read and enjoy what I have to say.

Listen to Beach House, it will help you through the rough winter ahead..

I am a quitter..

Today i handed in my resignation to the station for my show Left of the Dial. Its something I have thought about several times over the past few years and just always thought i was being silly. This morning i woke up and wrote two official emails about leaving my position there. It was volunteer, so it doesnt matter that much, but it does at the same time. i have been sitting here wondering why i did that, or i cant believe i actually did it. the truth is it wasnt fun for me anymore, i didnt enjoy going, it was a burden to me and my life. which is so fucking crazy to even say out loud or in general. "oh playing whatever i want on the radio is no longer fun for me" who am i? i dont know. i just know i dont want it anymore, i am thinking of doing a podcast though to still share music and semi dj. i will post them on this blog when i do them! so dont give up on ms connection yet, she will still be there and putting out love and music, but just not on KSHU!

my first blog of the new year!

i guess i havent really felt like i had anything to say lately. i dont even really feel like i do tonight either, except that once you chill out and let things go its a lot easier. i really feel a lot lighter and easier these days that im giving up on trying so hard. its too much, it doesnt lead anywhere, and it doesnt do anything. it doesnt make you feel better, and it doesnt make it go away. moving on, its the way to go. things will happen if they are supposed to. faith my friends, faith. we must have faith in ourselves and our futures. faith is the only thing we got going on. so no more moping around, im over it. im keeping busy instead. tonight i listened to music, baked, played super mario, started working on my radio project. i felt productive. i have a feeling my year is going to be so busy, it will fly by which is exactly what i want it to do. i want to do my goals, and have it go quickly, so that i can go to the next stage of my life. but i do understand patience is very important right now in all areas of my life, which is guess is where faith comes in again. just have patience and it will all work itself out. two very special themes. i am off to sleep.
